Besides its commemorative purpose, the National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall serves as a multifunctional park for sports, leisure, and cultural activities, making it a popular weekend destination for Taipei residents.

The hall’s architecture adopts the Tang Dynasty palace style, featuring a yellow-glazed tile roof and upward-curving corners resembling the wings of a mighty bird. Inside the hall is a majestic bronze statue of Dr. Sun Yat-sen, approximately 5.8 meters high (8.9 meters including the base) and weighing 16.7 tons. This grand and solemn site is most famous for the changing of the guard ceremony at the hall.
