This theater was built in 1930s of Japanese Colonial Era with a previous name “Xiluozuo (西螺座)”. It had seats on two floors to hold up to 500 audiences and was capable to screen movies and stage dramas. Nevertheless, due to population outflow, it was eventually closed in 1980s. Though the place was officially enlisted as a historic heritage in 2001, projects of restoration and reuse could not go smoothly because of its divided ownership. However, visitors might be able to get in if they are lucky. While wooden folding chairs are mostly intact, a big hole is on the movie screen if taking a closer look; storage boxes of movie film reel are scattered on floor and windows are dilapidated. It is an appealing location for ruins photography, but for local residents, a grand reopen of the theater with music and movie someday in future is probably better.
