Five-Peak Flag Catholic Church

Originally, Five-Peak Flag Catholic Church was built as a shelter for hikers in the area. With its gradual expansion, the church has now grown into a mecca where hikers and church members alike engage in spiritual retreats. Accommodation is available as well. The hiking trail leading to the church is therefore known as a pilgrimage route.

Located above the Five-Peak Flag Waterfall Scenic Area, this trail is one of the most popular hikes in the Jiaoxi Township of Yilan and divided into two sections: the first section of the trail is combined with the industrial road with a length of 3.7km, and the second is a 1.63-kilometer-long mountain alley. A round trip will take you about three hours. An amazing diversity and abundance of birdlife and insects will be enjoyed as you hike along the trail. Eventually, you will reach a lookout perched on the ridge, overlooking the lush Lanyang Plain and providing the best view of the area. However, the midsection of the trail was once damaged by a typhoon in 2015. A temporary trail has been constructed, but still, please pay extra attention to your surroundings and watch your step during the hike.
