Zhongzhen New Village Cultural Park is located in Pingzhen District, Taoyuan City. The unique features of this place offer a rich exotic charm, especially reflecting the cultural fusion of the Yunnan, Myanmar, and Thai ethnic groups. This park transformed from a former military dependents’ village, making it one of the few cultural settlements in Taiwan that has preserved this background intact. The history of Zhongzhen New Village dates back to 1954 when it was established as a dependents’ village for the Anti-Communist National Salvation Army from Yunnan who retreated to Taiwan. Most of the residents come from Yunnan, Thailand, and Myanmar, creating a distinctive community.
Over time, this area gradually evolved into a cultural park with an exotic flair, attracting visitors interested in foreign cultures. In 2005, as renovation plans progressed, the old buildings in Zhongzhen New Village were demolished; however, some significant facilities such as the Christian church and Shengde Kindergarten were preserved and transformed into Zhongzhen New Village Cultural Park. Inside, there are facilities like the Exotic Story Museum and the Lone Soldier Memorial Square. The Exotic Story Museum showcases the history of the Lone Soldier, vividly presenting little-known stories through interactive exhibits and multimedia installations. Additionally, Zhongzhen New Village Cultural Park features cultural classrooms that regularly hold various cultural courses, promoting exchanges between different ethnic groups.
The dining area offers a variety of culinary delights from Yunnan, Thailand, and Myanmar, allowing visitors to explore the rich roots of these cultures while enjoying delicious food. Every year, Zhongzhen New Village Cultural Park also hosts various celebration events such as the "Longgang Rice Noodle Festival," "Exotic Song and Wine Festival," and "Double Tenth Carnival." These activities not only attract local participation but also draw many outside visitors, turning cultural exchanges into a passionate experience. Zhongzhen New Village Cultural Park not only preserves significant historical footprints but also serves as a prime location for participants to explore Yunnan, Myanmar, and Thai cultures. Whether through cuisine or events, visitors can feel the unique charm of this land and truly experience the allure of multiculturalism.
