You might have heard of a list of the 100 iconic peaks soaring over 3,000 meters in Taiwan, and many local enthusiasts spend their whole lives trying to climb over every one of them. However, not every one of us is physically capable of going out on a serious hike, which is why there is another list of the 100 mountains for everyone regardless of age, and Dongyangshan at the height of 1,212 meters happens to be one of them.

In springtime, you will be welcomed by an array of cherry blossoms along the way. The forest itself supports a rich and diverse community of plants and animals, and it is also a popular birdwatching spot. The walking trail is very well-established and suits visitors of all sorts, especially families traveling with the elderly and the little ones. Along the way, there are many wooden chairs and pavilions for you to sit for a while and catch your breath. As many different kinds of plants and flowers can be found in the Dongyangshan Forest Recreation Area, the surrounding landscapes change throughout the four seasons. If you are coming as a large group, the management encourage you to get in touch with them in advance and a tour guide will be accordingly arranged, who will give you an insightful look into the forest and its vibrant ecology.
