Wuzhishan Military Cemetery

Attraction stories

Wuzhishan Military Cemetery is the most scenic and organized military cemetery in Taiwan, which can be divided into ten sections according to the military rank of the deceased. With a total number of 9,417 graves, the cemetery is very well maintained and taken care of over the years. There is nothing haunted and spooky about the place itself; instead, it’s a popular spot where locals often like to hang out.

Located on the top of Wuzhishan at the height of 699 meters, this military cemetery allows you to appreciate the impressive view of the city and the North Coast in the distance. Due to its growing popularity, many cafés on wheels start to pop up here especially on weekends to cater to casual visitors and bicycle enthusiasts. When the night falls, the mountain top becomes a perfect spot to capture the downtown skyline. As there is no light pollution, it’s also a popular place for some romantic stargazing. The cemetery is well connected to some other local attractions such as Qingtiangang and Wanli, so a bit of planning beforehand will ensure a perfect one-day outing in New Taipei City.
