The Beitou Branch of Taipei Public Library (台北市立圖書館北投分館) has been recognized as one of the top 10 coolest green buildings in the world. It is also the first building in Taiwan to achieve a diamond-level certification for energy-efficient and environmentally friendly design. The library utilizes recyclable materials to reduce environmental impact. The wood used in the building comes from managed forests rather than primary rainforests, and large windows allow natural light to reduce the need for electric lighting. Additionally, solar panels are used to generate electricity, and rainwater is collected for reuse.
The library is open on weekdays from 8:30 AM to 9:00 PM and on weekends from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Admission is free, allowing visitors to enjoy the tranquil and green environment. It is conveniently located just a few minutes' walk from Xinbeitou MRT Station and is accessible by 14 different bus routes. When visiting Beitou to enjoy the hot springs, don't miss the opportunity to visit this urban oasis and gain a deeper understanding of living in harmony with nature.
Please note that the library is closed on the first Thursday of each month.
