Connected to the Elephant Mountain Hiking Trail, the 850-meter-long Yong Chun Gang Hiking Trail is a local urban dwellers’ favorite and can be busy on weekends and holidays. With appropriate railing and without too many steps, the hike is smooth enough for the little ones and senior citizens alike. Three minutes after passing the entrance, you will soon reach Yong Chun Gang Park, where a panoramic view of the bustling Xinyi District is granted, with the majestic Taipei 101 right in front of you. If you come after the sun goes down, the view is even more dramatic at night.
In the middle of the route, a gigantic rock will be encountered, and from here, you can choose to continue with the Yixiantian Trail (一線天步道) on the right or to challenge the Yongchun Slope (永春坡) by going a bit uphill, which will lead you to the Pavilion of Transcendence (超然亭) for another panoramic view of the Songshan District of the eastern Taipei. A round trip to the top takes around eighty minutes. Visitors can be amazed by not only the city views unfurling in front of them, but also those around them — the serene beauty of the park’s natural landscape is part of what makes this trail so appealing.
