Wenzhou Street Radish Pastry

This small shop is at a street corner between Daan Forest Park (大安森林公園) and Normal University Night Market (師大夜市). During opening hours, customers crowd outside for congyou danbing (蔥油蛋餅, green onion omelet) and luobosibing (蘿蔔絲餅, stripped-radish cake). Congyoubing (蔥油餅, green onion pancake) with egg is usual in many places. While the one using Yilan Sanxing green onion is the most famous and Chongyoubing Street (蔥油餅街) in Hualien is always packed with visitors, it is hard to find a piece of nice congyoubing at reasonable price in Taipei. Apart from redolent congyoubing, luobosibing is also a main attraction of the shop. Fresh and crisp radish strips is added and fried with a deep-fryer. Egg sponge will then be poured over the cake during frying, to provide a crunchy texture - which always amazes people at the first time. For children with sweet tooth or those want to take away, doushabing (豆沙餅, pancake with red bean paste) will fits their needs – Indeed we fail to deny any of these four small eats available in this shop.

However, the shop has occupied state-owned land for a long time. It is sure that the shop will move to a new site in near future, as the government has strictly prohibited such behavior since recent, though the exact date is not yet confirmed. If you cannot find the shop at usual place, it should be moved to its new address at 186-1, Section 1, Heping East Road. If you are new to the place and cannot wait to try it, its present address is at intersection of Wenzhou Street and Heping East Road.
