Taipei Botanical Garden

Attraction stories

Taipei Botanical Garden which has the great denseness in planting in the city is next to National Museum of History. Except for various of tropical and subtropical plants, there are also birds and beasts perch here. In weekends, photography-enthusiasts would dress in camouflage clothing, and bring their valuable SLR cameras, shooting the agile birds in groups. Some botanical garden have a Japanese style yard inside, nor does this one. This botanical garden also contains an old employee dorm, which was abandoned since Japanese Colonial Era, named as ‘Nanmoncho 323’. The dorm is repaired by architect to recur its Japanese feature. Furthermore, the landscaping in the yard is designed by Japanese designers, which mixes international opinion up. Besides Japanese buildings, there is also a Qing Dynasty Taiwan Provincial Administration Hall (欽差行臺, the building served as the site for Qing dynasty government treasury affairs, military payment and residential quarters for the central government officials in Beijing on their inspection visits to Taiwan.) remaining from the Qing Dynasty, which is the only remaining Yamen (衙門) building in Taiwan. The government was facing financial hardship throughout its construction period, less-fined building materials were adapted; still, its seriousness and authority to visitors are not harmed at all.
