Qingtian 76

Attraction stories

Daan District has been the residence area preferred by professors and high-ranking officials. Taking a stroll along the streets and passing by the low-rise residences along with lush trees in this district, you will feel extraordinary tranquility that is in striking contrast with noisy Xinsheng South Road and Heping East Road. Near Daan Forest Park, Qingtian Street is full of artistic and cultural atmosphere with several old Japanese-style dormitories that have been preserved and renovated thanks to the collaboration between civil organizations and the government. Qingtian 76, an old dormitory situated in No. 6, Lane 7, Qingtian Street, is renovated as an old-school café and operated by civil enterprise. Stepping into the café decorated with calligraphy artworks, wooden floors and windows, tatami and old photos on the wall, visitors will feel themselves traveling back to the old Taipei of fifty years ago. The big tree in the yard, the roof covered by moss and stripped wood, all telling the old dormitory’s history.

The dining space consists of indoor area, tatami area and outdoor area, where customers can enjoy tea and coffee under the tree on a sunny day. Correspondent with the building’s Japanese style, the food here is lightly flavored. However, the food price is a little higher compared with other café of similar style. Its opening hours are divided into common dinning hours and afternoon tea time with in-between cleaning. Customers will be required to take off their shoes before entering the dining area, so make sure you wear socks without holes.
