Le Park Cafe

We could find hundreds of cafes in Taipei. Except the brand chain, however, independent cafes have to put certain effort on either unique coffee bean baking technique or interior design, otherwise, customers might just forget them and never show up again. Nonetheless, this cafe in residence area around Nanjing Fuxing MRT Station is an exception. The outlook is not eye-catching – no fancy shop sign or bright lighting. When peeping inside from the street, it is like a small pub on a European street. However, you will feel like backing home once entered. The dim lighting and surrounding jazz music make people here keeping their voice down unintentionally and forming a more immersive atmosphere for chatting; Customers reading books are also benefited from it. From details like frost glass besides windows, handrail along the staircase, old but intact sofa and wooden panel separating seats, we could see owner’s effort on maintaining the major structure of this old building when drafting blueprint. Nonetheless, the most special part is a small room on second floor. Sitting inside with a turned-on table lamp is similar to be in home’s study. Though this room has no door, no one would come and disturb. Just try this: order a cup of coffee and lean slightly against wall, plug your smartphone to a recharger and browse some newest status on Facebook. The time just goes by and brings a totally different pace than the city outside. It is rare to experience in other cafes: drawing customers back to the place by atmosphere instead of solely by food.
