Since lots of foreign students study at National Taiwan Normal University (more well known as Shida) for learning Chinese, stalls serving foreign cuisine are gathered in nearby night market. The expulsion of smaller stalls had shrunken its scale and brought an end to its most flourishing period. However, eateries with indoor space are benefited and more welcomed from the change. Excluding the worldwide franchise American fast food diner, there are still seven to eight restaurants expertized on burger around the university. In spite of that, we think this KGB Burgers deep in alley is the only one you really need to pay a visit.
The total number of indoor and outdoor seats is less than 40, so the diner is always full during mealtimes. The place features New-Zealand-styled burger. Apart from beef imported from New Zealand, it provides some unique flavors you are not likely to find in other Taipei’s burger eateries (though it is doubtful to say they are uniquely from New Zealand), for instance: satay, chili mango, Spanish aioli sauce and, of course, standard BBQ and bacon. Among all these yummies, we love the lamb burger most. Not only because of the rarity, but also for its special dressing and absence of gamy taste. The very first bite on it makes you know that you will somehow be back here later.
If we have to rank up all burger restaurants at same price level in Taipei, KGB Burgers is certain to be in the top 3.
