Jinquan Noodle

Located at the back gate of Yongle Elementary School, Dadaocheng, Jinquan Noodle is a good place only known by locals. Whenever the eatery is open, it is always packed with customers. Once the dishes prepared for that day are sold out, the eatery will close immediately. Nowadays, when it comes to dining, customers are putting heavy emphasis on decor and location, but the popularity for the distinctive eatery has not been affected. In addition to some side dishes, another two most-haves are noodle soups and deep-fried chashaorou (sliced deep-fried pork, 叉燒肉). Although customers are many, and the staff do not take your order with pen and paper, you don't have to worry they might forget your meals. The staff all have excellent memory for orders. When the Chinese New Year is coming, nearby residents will particularly purchase the acclaimed chashaorou for their reunion dinner at home. Usually pre-orders are done one month in advance. In Taipei, ordering a table of noodle soups or chashaorou will cost hundreds of Taiwan dollars. They are usually less authentic than those in south, and their prices are relatively high. Yet, when you finish the meal and walk out of Jinquan Noodle, you will change your view on Taipei’s noodle eateries.
