Jiannanshan

Taipei is always cloudy and rainy for its basin landform, but once the weather is clear, mountains nearby will be great for admiring nightscape of Taipei City.

Jiannanshan, as its name implies, is a hill close to Jiannan Road MRT Station. Most residents of Dazhi know a secret location near on-hill barrack site for gazing upon Taipei 101, Songshan Airport and Dazhi Miramar Ferris Wheel. You could go uphill along Jiannanshan from MRT station, pass the barrack, continue till Xuantian Temple’s (玄天宮) lanterns are on the left, then turn left right away. Before reaching the transmit base station, you will find a bald open space. In there you could find some huge rocks as seats when enjoying the nights view. Since the place takes about 3 minutes driving from position of Xuantian Temple’s lanterns and the fact that the road is cramped and lack of parking lot, we recommend you to get there by scooter or foot. The best time of taking photo on city’s night is the half to an hour after sunset, as the city is already lighted up on that time, while the sky is not yet darkened.
