Burger Ray

It is no exaggeration to say that Taipei is sprawling with burger joints of all sizes and variants in recent years, but not every one of the them has a loyal crowd willing to fall in line every single night. Located between Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall and Zhongxiao Dunhua Station, Burger Ray is always teeming with hungry, satisfied, loyal patrons who come for their decent food at an affordable price. Only five options are available on the menu, but you can add your choice of ingredients (sunny-side-up eggs, thick-cut bacon, pan-fried goose livers, the truffle sauce, caramelized pineapples...). Tomato, lettuce and onions are free of charge. Create your own burger and they will build it for you. Beverage selections include coke, black tea and milkshakes, but prices are not pocket-friendly enough. However, the crispy French fries tossed with truffle oil are very worth a try.

The diner is great for a group of friends, but not a couple on date night — the deafening loud music might ruin your romantic dinner. The long queue is another hassle. If you don’t mind sharing a table with strangers, eating while standing, let them know and you will have your spot soon.
