In addition to National Taiwan University, Taiyi Milk King is another popular attraction in the bustling Gongguan area. As one of the best dessert places in Taipei, Taiyi Milk King has been proudly serving up little glutinous rice balls filled with sweet or savory filling since 1956, and the sweet fermented ones are the most in demand on the menu. Shaved ice is another hit here. You can choose to add toppings such as strawberries with cream or mangoes with panna cotta. If you’re a sugar addict, ask for the sublime shaved ice topped with strawberries, mangoes, panna cotta and glutinous rice balls.

Sitting right next to the NTU campus with a prominent signboard that catches people’s attention by the roadside, Taiyi Milk King is quite easy to find on the busy Xinsheng S. Road. The place is self-service, where you order, pay, wait for your desserts at the counter, and when they are ready, you bring them over to your table.
