Spot Café Lumière

Spot Café Lumière sits at Zhonghshan North Road and is on opposite side to Regent Hotel (晶華酒店), one of the scene taken in movie “Lucy”. Except for nearby famous Wedding Dresses Street (婚紗街), the Museum of Contemporary Art Taipei (MOCA Taipei) and Nanjing W. Branch of Shin Kong Mitsukoshi (新光三越南西店) are also close to Zhongshan MRT Station. The most unique feature of this cafe is that the site it adapts was once the Embassy of the United States of America. However, since US severed diplomatic relation with Taiwan, it decided to only maintain an office in the island. The abandoned embassy building was then renovated. The cafe on first floor provides outdoor space that allows visitors to see the fussy crowd and busy Zhongshan North Road through a barrier. For people deciding to sit indoor, they could have a chance to observe the workplace of diplomats in the past. Moreover, Spot Theatre (光點電影館) has occasional screening of non-mainstream movies and is used as venue for exhibition of art films.
