Fushunlou Peking Duck

If you are looking for the juiciest roast duck in Taipei, foodies will point you to the Fushunlou with a very loyal following. It is best to call ahead to secure your duck as they often run out.

The duck is ceremoniously served in three courses: the skin for the pancake, and the meat in two different styles. It is carved at your table to be eaten with the chewy pancakes. The skin is simply divine: it is crunchy, crispy, not too oily, and looks like marbled caramel glass. As you bite in, there will be a party in your mouth all the way to your tummy. The meat can be either stirred with bones, veggies or flaked into soup. Other items on the menu include glutinous rice balls with black sesame stuffing, the flavorful Peking pork chops and the refreshing shrimp lettuce wraps. One single duck served in three different ways costs around TWD1,000, which is not too bad considering the location and the quality. It is very well worth a try if you are craving for some lip-tingling Oriental feasts in the city of Taipei.
