This cafe keeping in low profile hides in alleys around Zhongshan MRT Station. From the appearance, it is more like a hair salon or design studio, and it might be missed if not paying attention. The owner of Cup&Plate believes something new is needed to differentiate themselves from usual cafes in Taipei. Hence, they do admit that they are not expertized in making coffee, but the imported beer and sparkling water allow customers to cheer up in a comfortable environment when the day is still bright. Even on sunny days, the interior keeps a dim yellow tone. The installation artworks behind window wall, iron barriers, an antelope’s head and a life buoy hanged on wall, vintage sofas, square tables in shape of luggage case, etc. are all showing the owner’s unique taste - an antique BMW motorcycle is even placed in the MIDDLE of the cafe. Old style film camera and the enormous radio at the corner put customers in an atmosphere of a Midwestern United States adventurer’s basement.
