There are several yummies hiding around Taipei Arena - maybe because it was once a residential area, or as it is close to Songshan Airport, of course, maybe simply due to the crowds brought by the Arena. Besides, several famed cafes situating among the districts attract residents in Taiwan and Taipei more. The most famous one is Café Junkies. Regardless of the curiosity aroused by its name, the interior indeed is far from “junky” and full of owner’s fanciful designs. A huge front window of the shop catches bystanders’ eyes, while customers inside could also gaze on the street for some inspiration. Once pushing the side door open, one’s attention would be drawn to the wooden bar table, vintage droplight and toy soldiers and advisement postcard over the long table. A coffee roaster is set at the corner of the cafe (we sure it is not simply decorative as staffs would come over and manipulate it), bags of imported coffee beans are poured in for bakery. Baked beans are not only for cafe’s own usage, but also being packed in small boxes for sale. The most spectacular part of its indoor design is the wall covered in cabinets with old-time window case. Behind these window cases, foreign car license plates, vehicle models, old camera and classical food metal pot are placed as ornaments. Interesting decorations, such as rotary dial telephones, miniatures of Moai and nostalgic leaflets fills every empty space of the cafe. Apart from tables for two and four, long tables are available for larger group of customers if they would like to discuss business while enjoying some nice coffee.
