Japanese restaurants are usually not somewhere you can get away without a fortune in your pocket, and very few of them have fresh, delicious yet economical treats to tempt everybody. However, A-Hong Japanese Restaurant happens to be one of them. Unlike most Japanese restaurants that prefer rather poetic, philosophical names for their business, A-Hong adopted the name of its owner, and it’s as simple as that.

Jumbo Kaisen Don (海鮮霸王蓋飯), is the most popular dishes at A-Hong. Topped with cobia, salmon, sea urchins, scallops and sweet shrimps, this sashimi rice bowl costs you no more than 12 bucks (NT$380). Another signature dish here is Broiled Three Treasures Don (炙燒三寶蓋飯). Similar to the Cantonese style of three treasures rice (三寶飯) with a combination of three roasted meat, Broiled Three Treasures Don has three different kinds of fish to offer, including eels, flatfish and salmon. The natural fat in fish melts during the broiling process. Without the fatty grease, the broiled flatfish is simply a delicious slice of heaven. Wait, you smell that? Yes, it’s the seducing flame-broiled scent.

Of course, there are still a lot of side dishes to choose from, grilled or fried — the happiness of your hungry tummy is guaranteed. The fresh, delicious yet economical menu is the key to the success of A-Hong Japanese Restaurant.
