Fuzhong Street

Attraction stories

Undoubtedly, the Confucius Temple is one of the must-visit spots in Tainan. Across from the temple and through the Pao Gao Stone Arch (泮宮石坊), you will also find myriads of food stands and art studios along the 200-meter-long Fuzhong Street. Every March, the Indian coral trees (莿桐樹) lining the street will be in full bloom, making it a favorite backdrop for pre-wedding photoshoot.

The handmade craft market takes place on weekends where there is an abundance of arts and crafts for you to explore. Some artists even renovated the old houses on the street and transformed them into studios to showcase their talent and creativity. Have a cup of coffee under the Indian coral trees, or try the fried instant noodles much loved by local students. Enjoy your own gentle pace here as slowing down is the only way to savor the beauty of this city. Be aware though, that walking on the lovely Fuzhong Street, a whole afternoon may easily pass by in a blink of an eye.

During the week, Fuzhong Street is a beautiful contrast to the bustling town. Take a leisurely stroll down those little alleys leaving the main street. Surprises await you along the way. From independent cafés to traditional eateries and antique stores, every shop has its own unique style inside and out.
