Taichung Station Railway Culture Park is located near the New Taichung Railway Station and was formerly known as the "Old Taichung Railway Station." It was constructed in the classical Baroque style during the Taisho era. The park now showcases three must-see railway models for rail enthusiasts: the EMU100, a classic express train from the Taiwan Railway with a strong European flavor; the R100 type diesel locomotive; and the iconic "White Iron Man," the Guanghua No. 1, which served the Taiwan Railway for nearly 50 years. Notably, you can even enter the interior of the Guanghua No. 1 and immerse yourself in a nostalgic atmosphere, making it a highlight worth visiting for railway enthusiasts!
If you want to learn about the history of the old Taichung Railway Station, take a stroll through the park and explore the old photographs that depict the station's history in different eras. The park also replicates the wooden ticket booth that existed during the Japanese colonial period, offering a nostalgic experience. Taichung Railway Station is unique in Taiwan as it has served three generations of travelers over a century, carrying many memories. Today, with a fresh new look, the station combines cultural and creative markets and special exhibition events, adding vibrancy to the area around the station. If you get tired from exploring, you can head to the food street at the New Railway Station to rest and enjoy a meal.
