Olimato

Taichung’s brunch culture is not nearly as established or diverse as Taipei’s. But situated in Taichung’s suburbs, Olimato is a popular choice for many locals. The price here is higher than the average for a brunch in Taichung, but with the large servings and yummy flavors, many crowds still flock here. On holidays, you will definitely need to queue to get a feed here. Whether in the outdoor area or inside sitting against the floor to ceiling windows indoors, it is a lovely place to have a brunch. Especially in winter, the warmth of the sun shining into the restaurant lifts the moods of diners. Indeed, by midday on a weekday Olimato is already packed with diners, making it essential to book ahead if you want to guarantee a meal here.

This is an accessible restaurant for foreigners. Located in the suburbs, you won’t have any problems finding a carpark. Also, with a menu in good English and options that are much like the brunch ones back homes, it is much loved by all those who have given it a try. There are Australian, French, Chinese, Taiwanese, Canadian, Texas and Tennessee breakfast options. There is also a large range of beverages, such as tea, juice, coffee and even beer. While it is no doubt more expensive than street food, you are paying for a clean, modern environment with good service and huge servings. Actually, this place is great value for money - you will probably only need to eat about half before you feel full.
