The Taichung Marine Ecological Museum, located next to the Wuchi Tourism Fishing Port in Taichung City, is a modern building focused on marine ecological education and tourism. After several theme adjustments and construction delays, the museum finally passed inspection in 2024, unveiling its mysterious identity as the "Marine Ecological Museum." Its exterior design is clever, featuring rock-like shapes and geometric faceted panels that harmoniously coexist with the surrounding sea view.

The exhibition areas of the Taichung Marine Ecological Museum are quite diverse, covering four main themes: the Dajia River Basin, coral reefs, estuarine wetlands, and more. One of the highlights inside the museum is the large ocean tank, which is the second-largest in Taiwan, measuring over ten meters high. It showcases a variety of living marine organisms, such as jellyfish and glass octopuses, allowing visitors to experience the diversity of the ocean. In addition to the exhibition areas, the space within the museum is thoughtfully designed, featuring an aquarium display area, a gift shop, and a scenic restaurant, enabling visitors to enjoy dining while appreciating marine life.

Historically, the planning of the Taichung Marine Ecological Museum began in 2010, with an initial theme focused on penguins. This later evolved to the "Penguin and White Dolphin Ecological Museum," and after several iterations, the current name and direction were finally established. The twists and turns in this journey have filled the museum's construction with stories, and its opening is anticipated to take place in the first half of 2025. The museum also plans to collaborate with nearby attractions, such as the Gaomei Wetlands and Wuchi Tourism Fishing Port, to form an ecological tourism route, allowing visitors to gain a deeper understanding of marine ecology.

In addition to exhibitions, the Taichung Marine Ecological Museum will offer a variety of educational activities, designed not only for schools but also open to the public, aimed at raising awareness and understanding of marine ecology and conservation. The Marine Ecological Museum is poised to become an important window for visitors to further explore the mysteries of the ocean, heralding a future rich in education and potential.
