Juanyong Village has been operating in Taichung for over 20 years now. Of its current six branches, half operate 24/7, making it a great place to choose for breakfast, lunch, dinner or even a midnight snack. The branch closest to Fengjia Night Market is the most popular of them all, probably because it is a great place for university students and tourists living next to the night market to try something cheap and delicious that is not street food. Outside, the shop is eye-catching, with a massive green sign announcing its presence.
Inside, the dining is simple but clean, with many large tables and benches set up for customers. There is also air-conditioning, which is surprising given that its meals are very cheap. As each dish is in the region of only TWD30~50, take the opportunity to order a lot of different things off the menu. However, be warned that there is no English menu here - it is traditional style Taiwanese restaurant where you need to write down your order yourself on a small piece of paper. But this makes for a lot of fun pointing and waiting in anticipation. To be honest, you can’t go wrong here. But if you are stuck, try dry noodles (乾麵), which is one of the signature dishes. You could also order pork kunckles (豬腳), boiled vegetables (燙青菜) or Bee Tai Bak (silver needle noodles, 米苔目). Overall, this is a great place to choose if you are after cheap, delicious Taiwanese food.
