Once where fish market traders and fishmongers gathered for the morning sale, Hot Fish Port is now a tourist attraction, shopping destination and upscale supermarket, where daily fish auctions still take place. The wholesale market can accommodate groups of all with different kinds of venues from private banquet rooms to coffee houses and food courts. The market is packed with stalls selling fresh seafood and other specialty items, such as snacks, dried fish products and prepacks.
The choice of seafood restaurants is rather limited, while Baodao Restaurant is a favorite of many: fresh catches, generous servings, affordable prices. You may choose to order off the prix fixe menu or à la carte options. Another popular spot for decent seafood is Tuna King, a value-for-money Japanese restaurant serving up sashimi, grilled skewers and sushi. Fear not, vegetarians out there — we feel you. There are a number of veggie choices in the food court for you to check out. Sitting right next to the wharf is the famous Chao Kang Cheng, a a perfect venue for weddings where the buffet restaurant is a glamorous affair. Food-wise, you can expect a top-quality selection of local dishes, with meat and fish made to order at show cooking stations, yet the price is not on the high end.
