Dongguang Market

Taichung is famous for its night markets. In addition to the country's largest Fengjia Night Market, as well as Yizhong Street, which has grown in popularity among the youths in recent years, there are some small night markets only known to the locals. Standing in the vicinity of Dakeng Scenic Area, Dongguang Market is quite similar to Taipei's Zhonglun Market. During the day, fresh meat and groceries are sold in the market, while in the evening the market turns into a place for dinner and midnight snacks. In addition to yansuji (Taiwanese popcorn chicken, 鹽酥雞), luwei (braised snacks, 滷味), and beverage bars, seafood stir-fry eateries and noodle stalls are even more prevalent in the market. Many blue-collar workers order dishes occupying the whole table, having beer in their hands and talking with friends, while other people forming a long queue at the front of the street for fried takeaways. Although the night market did not have loads of visitors, it's a good place for nightlife to nearby residents.
