Acai Migao

There is no especially interesting tourist spot in Qingshui, Taichung. But tourists are willing to drive to Qingshui just for a bowl of migao (rice cake, 米糕). Most of the time their destination is Acai Migao, an eatery with a history of more than three decades. Standing on the street corner in an alley, the eatery boasts no special exterior. Even the environment is somehow in disarray. Yet a wall in the eatery is filled with photos taken with many TV presenters hosting various gourmet shows. Whenever it opens, the eatery is always packed with customers. Every group of customers is sure to order at least one bowl of migao. With the scent of gravy on top overflowing and a braised egg supplementing the dish, customers always crave for a second bowl after they finish the first one. Of course, apart from migao, dry noodles, hongyou chaoshou (dumpling in chili oil sauce, 紅油抄手), and paigu soup pork rib soup, 排骨湯) are also very popular. If you plan to watch the sunset at Gaomei Wetlands, don't forget to visit Qingshui before returning to the downtown. You are sure to have no regrets.
