Lavender Cottage - Taichung

Lavender Cottage (薰衣草森林) is a unique garden in Taiwan, based on the dream of two girls who have been traveling for many years. The garden has become a must-visit destination for travelers. The area is filled with blooming flowers, showcasing hydrangeas in spring, lavender in winter, and Sage flowers in autumn. Everything in the garden, from the essential oil souvenirs to the afternoon tea, is related to lavender, with the hope of providing a healing experience for every visitor.

The story of Lavender Cottage (薰衣草森林) began with two girls, Tingfei and Huijun, who had a passion for coffee and herbs. They loved to draw and compose music to record their travel stories. After working in Taipei and Kaohsiung for many years, they decided to quit their jobs and become farmers to pursue their dream. They saved money to purchase a remote mountain area with no cell phone signal and few visitors. It was tough at first, but they persevered and, after many years of hard work, their dream came true.

Although the local area may not have a large lavender field like in Provence, entering their lavender garden allows visitors to temporarily set aside their worries and relax. The purple lavender and the surrounding trees and grass create a harmonious scene. Sitting under a parasol table, enjoying afternoon tea, is a wonderful way to spend time.

Lavender Cottage (薰衣草森林) has now become very successful in Taiwan, with four brands, seven stores, and an annual turnover of 23 million. Each store has several mailboxes symbolizing family, hope, and love. Who would have thought that the dream of two girls could become such a touching and successful real-life story?

The entrance fee is NT$200, with NT$100 redeemable for purchases within the garden area. Visiting the restaurant in the garden, which offers a great selection of local ingredients, including dishes such as lemon and herb-roasted chicken and classic red wine-braised beef, is a fantastic arrangement. Coupled with the European-style scenery, it feels like being on vacation abroad!
