Hu Jiazhuang Cold Noodle

Attraction stories

The cold noodle stall on Zhongqing Rd. has a signboard covered by giant trees on pavement. Vehicles drive on the road are rushing to the highway, so it's hard for people passing here to notice the stall if they do not receive recommendations from nearby residents or search it online. In fact, the stall, Hu Jiazhuang Cold Noodle, has stood for more than fifty years. At first, the noodles were served by a peddler's cart at the entrance to a nearby military dependents' village. Although it cannot be considered hygiene from today's perspective, the business has prospered because of its attractive price and tasty flavor. Therefore, the stall has been moved from the village entrance to a veranda, and the stall owner have accumulated enough money to buy townhouses one after another. However, the stall remains simple with only a few tables and chairs, yet many former residents in the military dependents' village and nearby residents still ride scooters to enjoy it. In addition to common flavors of cold noodles, the stall also provides cold Sichuan's spicy and numbing flavor and Japanese mustard flavor. A lavish and tasty bowl of cool noodles is priced at TWD35. The only pity is the lack of air conditioning, which makes it a little bit difficult to enjoy the noodles in a hot day.
