Butterfly Bridge Cuisine

In the past, except for citizens climbing the mountain or people living in the neighborhood, few tourists coming from other places would visit Dakeng area. However, in the recent decade, Lavender Cottage has fueled a boom of garden restaurants, and Xinshe Sea of Flowers, an exhibition held at the end of every year, has given birth to many restaurants and cafes along the road from the downtown to Dakeng and Xinshe. Even the Taichung City Government has cleared the two sides of Dali River and built several modern bridges, and Butterfly Bridge was one of most popular bridges. Because the design of the bridge resembles a butterfly's wings, it draws quite a few tourists and residents to stroll and take photos here in the evening. Grasping the bridge as a selling point, a French restaurant—Butterfly Bridge Cuisine—was opened along the river on the side close to the downtown.

Passing tourists are easily attracted to dine in the restaurant just by its exterior. A wooden house, slate walkways, and the surrounding artificial gardens make people feel like they were in European countryside. Entering the restaurant, tourists see a display fridge filled with cakes and a ram's horns hung in the middle. Along with yellow, dim lighting and soft music, dining here is extraordinarily comfortable and relaxing. Meals are divided into two categories based on the time they served: afternoon tea and set meals. At lunch and dinner time, the minimum charge per person is a set meal, which is priced at TWD799 plus a service charge of 10%. However, even though the service staff explains every dish in detail, the ingredients are not considered fresh. Furthermore, the beautifully presented dishes do not taste special. Considering they cost nearly a thousand, these dishes are less than satisfying. Even the desserts after meal, which the restaurant is proud of, show little difference from the much cheaper ones in 85 Cafe. As a result, we recommend tourists just have the afternoon tea in the restaurant after having fun in Carton King or finishing a trip at Dakeng Trails.
