Provincial Highway 26

When you are on a road trip, there must be several ones you can't forget after the traveling. It is an important part of the journey, if you are not the tourist who always sleep on the coach. Provincial Highway 26 is the road of its kind. Starting from northwest in the mountain, Provincial Highway 26 basically follows the shoreline to the southernmost point of Taiwan and goes up to northeast of Kenting. This peninsula highway connects Provincial Highway 9 on the east coast and the west coast Provincial Highway 1. This is the way for Kenting to say hi to you after entering Pingtung. Many landscapes are visible along the sea, like reefs and rocky and sandy shoreline. There is a special life event here every year. After the beginning of autumn, crabs that are going to release eggs arrive. In order to protect the mother crabs, Kenting National Park and conservation groups promote the "five minutes, retaining crab life" measures on sections of Provincial Highway 26 to remind passers-by to mind the crabs. This road also leads you to the last undeveloped shoreline in Taiwan, Alangyi. There has been some disputes about whether the shoreline should be built with road to finish the island circling highway system. Thank god it wasn't happened.
