Alangyi Old Trail

Alangyi Old Trail is a historic route between Taitung and Pingtung of the southeast Taiwan. It used to be a route for trade between aboriginal tribes for hundreds of years. In Qing Dynasty, this 12 kilometers trail was further developed to control aborigines in eastern Taiwan. When R.O.C. government took over Taiwan and built the around-the-island road system, this part was not built due to military control. After the military released the control, there have been many debates about whether this part should be developed. We are glad that this section was reserved as a historic route and environment protection area. We need application to get in here. Because there is no modern concrete development along the way, the natural beauty was preserved intact. The vividly blue sea accompanies you all the way, no matter you can see the Pacific Ocean or not. The rising part of this landscape is created by the collision between the Philippine Plate and the Eurasian plate. There are also vibrant seaside plants, like Taiwan date palm, shrub chaste tree, sea lettuce, and so on. Just wait for the excellent explanation from the specialized tour guide accompanying us.

Summer sun makes the very little shade trail very hot in most sections. However, the blue sea pays off the hardship. There are also a few places with small waterfalls to cool you off. Within just 4 kilometer of the trail, the sea cliffs, rocky shores, sandy beaches, pebble beaches, and other terrain constantly change from one another. After a harsh climb and the help of the rope, Guanyin nose is the commanding point of the trail. This place is recognized as one of the most beautiful spot of the trail and the place for lunch. Just check out the waves slapping the coast and sketch elegant white lines on the sea. There is also a high possibility to see sea turtles. After going down from Guanyin nose, we arrive at Nantian Beach in Kenting, while the other end of the trail entrances is not far away.
