Although the island Penghu is a paradise for seafood lovers, having seafood every meal could still be too much. Then what's worth recommending except for seafood restaurants? A little distant from the downtown Magong, Cauliflower Old Memory Restaurant, located on Xindian Rd., is a good choice to taste local specialties. Collecting a lot of old furniture and memories, the restaurant itself richly provides a nostalgic atmosphere. What's more, the owner of the restaurant is amicable, introducing the features and ingredients of every dish. Compared to abundant seafood restaurants in the downtown, Cauliflower Old Memory Restaurant is arguably the most unique restaurant in Penghu.
The signature old-time dish is Huacaigan Chao Rousi (stir-fried shredded pork with cauliflower, 花菜干炒肉絲). A must order to many gourmets, the dish is not commonly seen even in the Taiwan Island. Another famous stir-fried dish “Suangua Chao Sancengrou (side pork with pickles, 酸瓜炒三層肉)”, featuring local ingredient Wangan pickles, goes extremely well with rice. Still another local dish is the Xiaoguan Chaodan (neritic squid omelet, 小管炒蛋). Different from ordinary radish omelets, the neritic squid omelet, which probably cannot be found elsewhere, delivers a subtle aroma of seafood. In sum, the list of specialties in Cauliflower Old Memory Restaurant can go on and on. If you want to know the stories behind the dishes, come and listen to the owner's narration when you’re actually tasting the delicacies here.
