An offshore island of the outlying Penghu Island, Jibei Island has a limited variety of restaurants, among which is Jibei Seafood Restaurant. Next to Jibei Police Station, the restaurant does not have an appearance or decor more splendid than those in the city. Yet, its umami-abundant seafood delicacies reflect the restaurant's simplicity and sincerity, presenting a local taste of home cooking. Congshao Chou Duyu (rabbitfish braised with scallion, 蔥燒臭肚魚) is one of the common local dishes in winter. Chuantang Baixia (blanched white shrimp, 川燙白蝦), the most simply-cooked dish, highlights the crispy texture and sweet flavor of fresh white shrimps. Deep-fried cuttlefish balls, a common dish in every Penghu restaurant, seem to be larger here. An effort-and-time consuming dish—globefish skin, considered to be poisonous by most people, is actually edible after treated with special process. Sometimes chewy, sometimes crispy, globefish skin is waiting to be sampled here!
