Located right next to Bitan in Xindian District of New Taipei City, Lion Head Mountain at the altitude of 221m has a rather smooth hiking trail made of wooden and rocky steps, which is ideal for the little ones and senior citizens alike. The second peak among the three is the highest point of the trail, where a panoramic view of the city and the river: the soaring Taipei 101, the bustling east district, Yangmingshan, the Bitan Suspension Bridge as well as the winding Freeway No. 3 that crosses the Xindian River can all be appreciated from here.
There are several entrances to the trail, and the most accessible one is only five minutes away from the Xindian Metro Station. The trail is lined with thick forest, and plants are identified with signs which provide the visitor with information about their names. It takes you only forty minutes walking from this entrance to the pavilion on the top of the second peak. If time and energy allowed, why not spend one or two hours hiking through all three peaks of the Lion Head Mountain?
