Thousand Island Lake

The beauty of Shiding Thousand Island Lake is exposed to the world by an occasional photo publication and boomed at its fame. Countless camera amateurs catch the wind and pour in to capture their own artworks, making the place suddenly one of the notable attractions in Shiding. The name is derived from the attraction of same name in Mainland China, as the irregular hills surrounding the catchment area of Feitsui Reservoir (翡翠水庫) creates a similar scenery specifically from a nearby overlook next to the reservoir. In addition, because the landscape and climate of Feitsui Reservoir is ideal for growing tea, including the well-known Wanshan Pouchong (文山包種茶) and Dongfang Meiren (東方美人茶, lit. Oriental Beauty), it is also a noted tea plantation area in north Taiwan. Looking from height of the place, the renowned Bagua Tea Garden (八卦茶園) is right below. If you are a shutterbug as we are, you should visit at afternoon - the sunset here would surely eat up your storage space or films.
