Jinbaoshan Teresa Teng Memorial Park

Jinbaoshan Teresa Teng Memorial Park commemorates Teresa Teng (鄧麗君), a renowned singer of the Chinese-speaking world, who was buried in Jinbaoshan cemetery (金寶山墓園). When you walk into the central square in front of the entrance, your sight will be attracted by a large stone piano keyboard. And right at the entrance of the garden, there is a sculpture of Teresa Teng singing, with a resemblance that almost tricks you into thinking her sweet voice is still ringing out. After Teresa died of asthma in Thailand in 1995, she was buried here. For many years, an endless stream of fans have flooded to this memorial park to mourn their superstar. It is rumoured that an old man who lives in the downtown of Taipei comes here by bus every day, holding a picture of Teng and telling stories about her prime time. It is said that he has been coming for more than ten years. If you come today, you can hear Teng’s songs being played here non-stop. As for the stone giant keyboard, when you gently step on it, you will hear the distinctive music echoing out thanks to innovative technology. The museum nearby displays the belongings of Teng. Browsing her clothes, music albums, and meeting her fans who still visit today will give you an idea of just how popular Teresa Teng is in Taiwan.
