The Camphor Trail is a popular destination in Maokong, Taipei City. With a total length of merely 1.1 kilometers, the trail boasts a wide range of natural wonders and is paved with nice bricks most of the way up without stairs, making it very accessible for visitors of all ages. On the way, you will be fully immersed in the rustic countryside landscapes such as pigsties, bullock carts, farm ponds, barns, traditional rammed earth houses, tea farms, vegetable gardens and many more! It’s an ideal destination for family with the elderly and the little ones. Every March, the mountain is alive with lupine flowers, while it’s abundant with the stunning cosmos flowers in late autumn, when loads of people flock here to appreciate the beauty of nature. Walking along the trail, you will find a few spots serving as perfect locations for a bird’s eye view of Taipei 101 and Zhinan Temple. As the night falls, a view that captures the robust spirit and essence of the bustling city of Taipei will not fail to ravish your eyes.
The Camphor Trail and Zhanghu Trail form a loop trail worth hiking. Maokong Gondola Station is nearby, and Taipei Zoo is just on the other side of cable car tracks. If you do a bit of planning beforehand, a perfect one-day outing for family members of all ages is definitely feasible!
