Penglai River Ecology Park

Overexploitation has long been recognised but not much has been done in solving the problems. Thankfully, the Penglai River Ecology Park located in the Nanzhuang Township of Miaoli is a blessed haven for wild fish as fishery was completely closed in 2001.

Merely a ten-minute drive from Nanzhuang Old Street, the ecology park is away from traffic noise and is home to much wildlife. Free parking is available. The walking trail consisting of boardwalks and lined with ginger lilies will lead you to the waters teeming with fish and other aquatic life — this journey into the wild will surely be a refreshing experience.

The crystal clear stream is abundant with fish. However, the walking trail keeps visitors away from the waters so as to protect the wildlife from pollution. Forget about interacting with these free spirits. Just leave them alone and enjoy the spectacle in the arms of Mother Nature.
