Hidden in a remote tribe in Miaoli, Sishierfeng Cold Spring is secret spot that most people never knew existed. The water temperature remains at 18°C all year long, and hordes of native fish can be spotted in the crystal stream when you walk along the trail. Descriptive boards give further details about all the different fish species in the area. At the end of the trail is the source of the cold spring, where the fish increase both in size and number. Wild ginger lilies are even growing around pool with the floating fresh aroma during the blooming period.
This cold spring was privately owned until the owner decided to share this hidden gem with the public and allowed the government to build up a trail to welcome the incoming visitors. This is a secluded place that Google Maps doesn’t want you to see yet, so try to find Nan Juang Jing Hwa Guesthouse (南庄晶華民宿) on the map. The entrance of the trail is just around the corner, and parking is available. The three-hundred-meter-long route is smooth enough without too many steps. When you reach the end of the cold spring, you will find yourself walking on a flat stone slab path. It will be a leisurely stroll for everyone regardless of age.
