Kuo Tai Glass Park

Attraction stories

Taiwanese glass industry has been left weak by cheap Chinese and Southeast Asian competition, and the traditional glassblowing techniques are at risk of dying out. Kuo Tai Glass, a third generation hollow glass kiln manufacturer with more than sixty years in history, decided to transform its glassworks into a “tourism factory” so as to preserve and promote the age-old techniques, in the hope that Taiwanese glass industry would have its comeback in another way.

In the glasshouse, you can see a team of glassmakers using traditional glassblowing techniques to create the finest handmade pieces of work. The traditional craft is now in the hands of an ageing population and in danger of being lost as demand for it falls. So why not get to know a bit more about this endangered skill by trying out for yourself and help keep it alive?

Kuo Tai Glass is proud to manufacture a wide range of unique products available in the gift shop, where a bit of shopping won’t harm. The visitor center is open for booking seven days a week and doesn’t accept walk-in visitors. Be sure to book your tours beforehand.
