Located on the border of Hsinchu and Miaoli, Guanwu National Forest Recreational Area varies in altitude between 1,500 and 2,500 meters and is shrouded in mist and clouds all year round. There are several hiking trails that allow you to explore the natural wonders of Formosa cypresses and waterfalls. What’s better than a hike through the forests with such a view?

Quaishan Giant Tree Cluster Trail is the most popular among all the others, where you will walk through a series of suspension bridges, narrow mountain paths and boardwalks in a tranquil, heaven-like setting. Within an hour, the forest of giant trees will then come into sight, which is comprised of five individual towering trees, with 10 minutes of walking between each other. Take a little extra time to pay tribute to the sacred trees numbered one and two as it is commonly believed that they have been standing in this everlasting foggy mist for more than two thousand years.
