Kinmen is home to myriads of historic sites, while very few of which are recognized at the national level — Qiu Liang-Gung's Mother Chastity Arch happens to be one of them. Qiu Liang-gung was the general-in-chief of army during the Qing dynasty, whose father passed away 35 days after his birth. His widowed mother never remarried and raised him to be a man of his nation as well as a man of his time. To commemorate the contribution and chastity of his mother, the arch was then built up in 1812.

However, not many people come all the way here to admire the arch; instead, it is the Oyster Fritter Booth under the arch that draws them here. The eatery has been around for three generations of owners. These fritters are battered in rice flour, with a filling of local fresh oysters and shredded cabbage in the middle. They are then fried up and topped with homemade special sauce. Oily and crispy on the outside, soft and tasty on the inside — the taste will leave you coming back for more!
