Upon entering the nostalgic complex of Zhushan Village in Kinmen, you will soon be greeted by a deafening silence of the pond in the middle of the complex. Mostly of traditional Minnan-styled architecture, these houses have been inhabited for years and started to crumble down inside out. Today, it looks like a lost world where only the imagination can fill in the pieces. The glorious past of the Hsueh family can be evoked by the grand architecture itself but gradually, quietly fades into the dust of history.
