Seven-Hole Waterfall is hidden in the Yongjing Village of Pingtung, with its source coming from Laofoshan at an altitude of 674 meters. The waterfall has an impressive elevation difference between the highest and lowest points, and seven different potholes were formed by the scouring action of water-borne sand. These deep natural underground caves therefore create the seven levels of the waterfall, hence the name. The waterfall is a raging torrent during the wet season, and the adrenaline-fueled trail is also a favorite of many thrill-seekers. Admission is free, but car parking charges apply.
The whole trail is merely a bit more than a hundred meters long, but many would decide to make their way back home upon arriving at the first level of the waterfall. Why? To reach the seventh level, one must cling to the rope and climb the almost vertical rock; some even trace the river to the top level — not everyone enjoys such a thrill and excitement. The water is cool and the view is pleasant though. Even though a round trip takes no more than two hours, it is still advised not to go alone. Having a company is always better than being all alone when going on this kind of adventure.
