Kenting is truly a world of its own. There are so many intriguing landscapes and abundant nature life thrives in the area. This place used to be a village called “Sheding”, and it belongs to the Paiwan people hundreds of years ago. Then, it became a tropical plant garden in Japan occupation period and our government established an organisation here to preserve the life and landscapes later on.

The ground was under the sea millions of years ago as there are fossils of alga, shellfishes, and corals accumulated here. Also there is an erosion cave and the underground water system has formed a stalactite cave rarely seen in Taiwan. As you walk through the buttress roots of trees in the park, you might see monkeys jumping around in the hidden forest and there are eagles hovering around utilizing the air current formed by the landscape. There is a building in the park for enjoying the commanding view of this area. As you sit by the window, you will be amazed by the primitive forest view accompanied by the sea. This is how Taiwan was like before it was cultivated by human.
