Shenwei Tiantaishan

Attraction stories

There is a stunning architecture almost impossible to be overlooked on the Provincial Highway No. 28. Seemingly a grand combination of Kinkaku-ji (Temple of the Golden Pavilion) and Forbidden City, the Shenwei Tiantaishan in Kaohsiung is literally glittering in a eye-dazzling golden color. Inside, the temple has a sense of space and openness, where the pillars are so huge that require at least three adults to reach around each one of them.

As glamourous as it seems from the outside, the calmness of the temple doesn’t fail to take you to a sacred world where one can escape from the constant barrage of everything else.

The main god is being worshipped in the sacred hall, at the bottom of which you will be amazed by a wall of nine dragons carved out of white marble. Not only the exquisite stone carvings depicting religious figures can be found within the temple, but the colorful relief works on the wall are quite impressive as well. The sheer size and grandeur of the temple is simply breathtaking — one just can’t help but wonder if it is actually a royal palace or a movie scene.
